“One last ride,” Chennai Super Kings fans react on twitter as franchise CEO confirms MS Dhoni will lead the team in IPL 2023

MS Dhoni had passed the captaincy baton to Ravindra Jadeja at the start of last IPL, but had taken it back mid-season

Apart from releasing the retained set of players, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) also confirmed earlier today that MS Dhoni will be captaining CSK in the next season of IPL and there will be no captaincy experiment as it was done last season.

Before the start of the last IPL, Dhoni had surprised everyone, including the Chennai Super Kings fans, by giving the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja at the very last moment. That decision didn’t turn out correctly as CSK lost a few games under Jadeja and Dhoni realized that captaincy was affecting Jadeja’s own game too.

The captaincy was switched mid-season again and Dhoni led the side in the latter half of the season. However, that won’t happen this time around and the CSK CEO clarified that Dhoni would be in charge of CSK right from the very beginning.

Because of CSK switching the captaincy mid-way through the season, there were reports of rift between Ravindra Jadeja and Dhoni as well, but Dhoni seems to have resolved it now and Jadeja earlier today tweeted that everything is fine and he is ready to make a restart at CSK.

Ravindra Jadeja remains most expensive player of Chennai Super Kings

Ravindra Jadeja still remains CSK’s most expensive player at 16 crore INR and he was one of those players Dhoni was absolutely adamant on retaining, as in Dhoni’s opinion Jadeja can prove to be a lethal weapon for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at their home ground Chepauk with the league returning to home and away format now.

The CSK fans were very happy after it was confirmed that Dhoni would lead the side from the very start of IPL 2023 and Jadeja also cleared the air that everything is fine between him and CSK management. Here are the twitter reactions of CSK fans after these two events –

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
