“No way, Shadab or Shaheen is winning it ahead of Virat Kohli”, Twitter reacts after ICC announces shortlist for player of the tournament

The fans across the world have well and truly enjoyed the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup as there were enough jump scares, raw emotions and some twists and turns in the passage of play. 

At the same time, rain also played its part in the competition that saw teams sharing a point apiece, which was literally the tough one to take, considering an important event like the T20 World Cup. 

In the tough battle amongst the teams, four teams such as New Zealand, England, India and Pakistan made it to the semi-finals. The intriguing semi-finals saw New Zealand losing to Pakistan in the first semi-final.

Team India surrendered at the hands of England cricket team in the second semi-final. The fans are now waiting to witness the epic spectacle between England and Pakistan on November 13 (Sunday) at MCG.

ICC announces shortlist for player of the tournament

Meanwhile, the international cricket body has announced the shortlist for the player of the tournament. The list included as many as nine players and now the fans can cast their vote for the best performers by going into the ICC website.

Out of the nine players, three players are from England, two players from India and Pakistan apiece, one player from Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka respectively.

The likes of Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sikandar Raza, Wanindu Hasaranga, Sam Curran, Jos Buttler and Alex Hales made it to the list. 

It remains to be seen which player will win the player of the tournament award. The majority of the fans are of the opinion that Virat Kohli could go on to win the player of the tournament because of his incredible performance throughout the tournament. 

The right-handed batter has aggregated 296 runs in this T20 World Cup wherein he slammed four fifties to his name. Currently, he is the leading run-scorer of the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup.
