KKR will be missing Alex Hales: After opting to take a break from the preceding season, dynamic English opener, Alex Hales chose to drop from the forthcoming IPL as he wanted to focus on managing his workload a lot more efficiently.
Hales played an elemental role in helping England overcome the Indian bowling unit in a contest where the Indian batters struggled to get the wheels rolling. The English opener is one of the most renowned names in the shortest format of the game and will not be a part of the IPL auction.
KKR made all the right noises in the IPL trade window as they managed to bag three big names of the format in the form of Lockie Ferguson, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shardul Thakur for the upcoming IPL. However, the absence of Hales will force them to look elsewhere in the IPL auction to plug the gap left by the openers.
It wasn’t just Alex Hales who withdrew from IPL 2023 but Pat Cummins and Sam Billings also won’t be a part of the upcoming IPL as they withdrew themselves citing workload management. This means that Kolkata will have to figure a way out to plug massive gaps ahead of the upcoming tournament.
Alex Hales has previously hinted at focusing on his international career and in the current era of relentless cricket, he has made it clear that he wants to keep himself in a piece and continue delivering at the grandest stages of all.
Here is what Twitter had to say about KKR
Twitter had mixed reactions about the hard-hitting English opener not being a part of the upcoming tournament as a few people had to believe that he should have tried and put in a bit more effort while others believe that it is actually impressive to witness players prioritizing their national leagues instead of the franchise tournaments as it is helping them to stay being mentally fit.
Ben Stokes worked so hard just to impress KRX admin so that he changes his mind about Eng players which will result in Ben Stokes playing for KKR, but instead admin refers to Alex Hales, heartbreak for Stokes even after winning the WC🗿😤

KKR's 3 players pull out of IPL 2023 – Alex Hales, Pat Cummins and Sam Billings.

Interesting to see Alex Hales pull out of the IPL. Had a lower value deal with KKR, earns very well in other competitions, and back in England fold. With WC, T10, BBL, ILt20 (UAE), PSL, essentially away start of Sept until end of March. Makes sense to take a break in April.

For the second season in a row, Alex Hales has withdrawn his name from the Indian Premier League. He was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders but opted out last year too. #IPL2023
