Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were the dominant teams when it comes to SMAT. However, both teams were not able to do well in this edition. Mumbai was lagging behind in the T20 format but the team managed to do well in 2022. Chasing a score of 144, they were in trouble at one point. However, Sarfaraz Khan held his nerve to take the team home. This win will give a lot of confidence to the team. Himachal Pradesh won the Vijay Hazare Trophy last time around and reached the finals of SMAT this year. This is good progress for the team, too.

With the closure of India’s domestic T20 competition, the focus will move to the franchise-based IPL. SMAT will serve as a platform for players to showcase their skills to the franchises.
