For the first time in the United Arab Emirates leg of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, there was an instance where both teams scored more than 185 runs. The Chennai Super Kings received an invitation to bat first at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from the captain of the Rajasthan Royals team, Sanju Samson.
As always, the Chennai Super Kings team got off to a great start with the bat. The opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis tormented the opposition bowlers in the powerplay overs. They added 47 runs in 6.4 overs before Rahul Tewatia sent Du Plessis back to the dressing room. Veteran batter Suresh Raina then arrived in the middle and tried to hit a six off Tewatia’s bowling. However, he failed to clear the boundary and the ball landed in Shivam Dube’s hands.

While two experienced batters lost their wickets in quick succession, a youngster of CSK team, Ruturaj Gaikwad played a sensational innings against the Rajasthan Royals team. He batted for the entire 20 overs and completed his maiden IPL century in style with a massive six. Gaikwad aggregated 101 runs off 60 deliveries, helping his team set a 190-run target for the Royals.
Given how CSK and RR had performed in the UAE leg of the ongoing Indian Premier League season, many fans would have predicted a big win for the Super Kings after the first innings. However, the same did not happen. Half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube powered RR to 190/3 in just 17.3 overs. The Royals ended the winning streak of the Chennai Super Kings in an unexpected manner.

Yashasvi Jaiswal smacked a 19-ball fifty to set the tone for the run-chase in the second innings. The former India U-19 star destroyed Australia’s, Josh Hazlewood.
While Jaiswal did not receive the Man of the Match award, he got an equally big prize after the RR vs CSK match. CSK captain MS Dhoni gave him an autograph on his bat, and the youngster was delighted.
