Danish Kaneria, a former spinner for Pakistan, thinks that India ought to have selected Sanju Samson rather than Rishabh Pant for the Twenty20 World Cup in 2022.
The former cricket player brought up the fact that selectors have not provided Samson with frequent opportunities to play. Kaneria said that the wicketkeeper-batsman has been impressive anytime he has been given the opportunity, even though he has been in and out of the lineup.
Sad that Sanju Samson won't be playing in his hometown on September 28th against South Africa.

What did Danish Kaneria say?
The selectors didn’t even give Samson a shot for the next white-ball series against South Africa and Australia, according to the 41-year-old player. Danish Kaneria said the following on his own YouTube channel:
“It is a bit unfair for someone like Sanju Samson. He should have been considered for the T20 World Cup squad. What has he done wrong to not find a place? He has also been ignored for India’s home series against Australia and South Africa. If it were up to me, I would have gone for Samson instead of Rishabh Pant.”

Samson was last seen in action during India’s one-day international series against Zimbabwe, which consisted of three matches. The right-handed batter scored 58 runs throughout two innings in the 50-over match that they participated in.
Additionally, Kaneria claimed that India ought to have selected Umran Malik as one of the standby players for the Twenty20 World Cup, and he added:
“India should have maintained Umran Malik as one of the standby players since it would have allowed the Indian batsmen to get some experience against a bowler who can regularly bowl fast.”
The campaign that the Men in Blue had in the Asia Cup 2022 turned out to be an unfortunate one since they did not make it to the final. The team’s goal for the next T20 World Cup in Australia will be to redeem themselves by delivering a stronger showing than they did in previous tournaments.
