IPL 2020: An unlucky XI of the season

The 13th season of the IPL is about to end and we have witnessed another great season of the best T20 league in the world. Every year the quality of cricket and the level of competition keeps on increasing. Just like every year, we have seen some great players perform at their best, some new players find their feet at the highest level and some players who should have been there in the middle but on most of the occasions were sitting on the bench. Every year there are some unlucky people who don’t get as much as the chance they deserve due to various reasons. So, let’s have a look at an unlucky XI of the season who should have got more chances but unfortunately couldn’t get those.

Openers – Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad both these youngsters have an immense amount of talent and will form a great combination up at the top. Jaiswal got only three opportunities and unfortunately couldn’t make the most of it. In fact, even Gaikwad had got only two opportunities at the start that too out of his favored batting position, and then he was dropped. Gaikwad, later on, opened the innings for CSK and showed what he is capable of. These two youngsters have the potential to dominate the IPL in the upcoming years.

Middle-order & Wicket-keeper – Wriddhiman Saha, Moeen Ali & David Miller

Wriddhiman Saha got a chance in the SRH team really late and he has done extremely well for them. He can bat at No.3 and keep wickets for this team. Moeen Ali was never given a fair chance in the RCB team. RCB lacked a solid middle-order batsman and Moeen Ali could have done that well for them. He can chip in with a few overs as well. David Miller might be the unluckiest of all the players. He got only one chance in this IPL in which he got run-out even without facing a ball. When Miller is in great form it is difficult to stop him and he can be the No.5 for any team.

All-rounders – Mohammad Nabi & Krishnappa Gowtham

Mohammad Nabi is one of the most underrated all-rounders in the T20 circuit. Whenever he has got a chance, he has done well for whichever team he has played for. Unfortunately, due to SRH’s team combinations, he got only one game. He can come in at No.6 and take on the bowlers from the word go. He is one of those bowlers who can anticipate what the batsman might do and bowls accordingly. He is a utility player and can do well for any team. The same is the case with Krishnappa Gowtham. He can bowl in the powerplay and he has played some amazing cameos for some teams in the past. He was asked to bowl the last over against the likes of Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya where he got hammered and after that, he was dropped. Nabi and Gowtham are two good all-rounders to have in your team.

Bowlers – Ishan Porel, Umesh Yadav, Siddarth Kaul and Imran Tahir

Ishan Porel who had done well in the domestic season didn’t get a single game for Kings XI Punjab. Siddarth Kaul who was one of the key performers for SRH over the last two years was dropped only after one bad game, and Umesh Yadav who is India’s Test bowlers had to make way for another Indian fast bowler after two below-par games. Imran Tahir who is one of the finest T20 spinners got a game only when CSK was almost knocked out of the competition. All these bowlers were unlucky in some manner and they could form a great combination if given a chance.
