“Inspiration for billions” – Twitter reacts after Jitesh Sharma said he is a big fan of Rohit Sharma and has taken a lots of advice from him during MI days in IPL

India’s talented cricketer Sanju Samson was ruled out of the remainder of the T20I series against Sri Lanka owing to a knee injury. The cricketer sustained an injury during the T20I opener at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The Kerala skipper was asked to stay back in Mumbai to undergo scans of a niggle. This is why he didn’t travel with the team to Pune for the second T20I. Later on, it was confirmed that Sanju Samson has been ruled out of the series.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came up with a surprise replacement for Sanju Samson for the next two T20Is against Sri Lanka. Jitesh Sharma earned a call-up to the Indian cricket team and might as well have a role to play in the next two games.

For the unversed, Jitesh Sharma plies his trade as a wicketkeeper-batsman for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. The 29-year-old was part of the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL 2017 season.

Needless to say, he didn’t get a chance to feature for the franchise as he was warming the bench. Meanwhile, Jitesh Sharma who is expected to make his T20I debut in the second game said he is a huge fan of Rohit Sharma.

While speaking to Sports Yaari, he further added that he has indeed taken a lot of advice from the senior cricketer during his stint at Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He made this remark ahead of the second T20I against Sri Lanka.

Earlier, Team India clinched the T20I opener by two runs and took the first lead in the series. The second T20I will be played today at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Hardik Pandya and Co will be looking forward to winning this fixture and the series.
