The political tensions between India and Pakistan is not a new thing. The fact that these two cricketing powerhouses have been locking horns only in ICC and ACC events tells us that the epic rivalry is marred by political scenarios in the first place.
Both the teams haven’t played the bilateral series for over a decade and the last time Pakistan toured India was back in the year 2012. Since then, both teams haven’t played bilateral series for obvious reasons.
Both teams have been competing against each other in the ICC or Asia Cup events. Recently, both teams played three games, i.e. two games in the Asia Cup 2022 and the other game in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
Team India got the better of Pakistan in the group stage of the Asia Cup in the gulf nation but lost to their rivals in the Super 4 stage of the tournament. However, the Men in Blue made a terrific comeback in the Super 12 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as they beat Pakistan by four wickets.
PCB doesn’t have the guts to boycott an ICC event in India: Danish Kaneria
Meanwhile, former Pakistani spinner Danish Kaneria made the headlines after he said Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) doesn’t have the guts or courage to boycott an ICC event in India.
He further added that even if Pakistan do boycott the ICC event, then they will incur huge losses. Kaneria also added that the loss will not be India’s because the richest cricket body, BCCI does not really care whether the Pakistan cricket team makes its presence in the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023.
Danish Kaneria has represented the Pakistan cricket team in 61 Tests, and 18 ODIs. Overall, he has taken 261 wickets in the longest format of the game at an economy of 3.07 and bagged 15 fifers. He took 15 wickets in One-Day Internationals.
Apparently, Danish Kaneria feels that PCB doesn't have the guts to boycott an ICC event in India.
I personally think these statements are uncalled for. Danish toured India with Pakistan and played against India in Pakistan too, he knows the hospitality and the warmth.
