“Hope it turns out to be true”, Twitter reacts as AB de Villiers predicts a India-New Zealand final and India as the champion

South African cricket legend AB de Villiers has given his prediction for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. The tournament is in its knockout stage and the 4 semi-finalists have been decided already (India, New Zealand, Pakistan and England). Earlier, Mr 360 had said that he was rooting for an India vs Pakistan final. However, he has changed his prediction now and thinks that India and New Zealand will meet each other in the final and team India will lift the trophy. 

“I think India and New Zealand will play in the final – I think India will win the cup”: AB de Villiers said in his most recent tweet and the tweet has since then gone viral on social media. 

We all know that De Villiers has a special connection with India. He has played in the Indian Premier League for over a decade and the fan following that he has in this country is next level. He also has a very dear friendship with his former RCB teammate Virat Kohli and thus it is only logical that he will support India in the World Cup now that South Africa has been eliminated. 

However, before the final, the Blues will take on England at the Adelaide Oval on 10th November and New Zealand will take on Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 9th November. India and New Zealand have proven to be the two best teams in the tournament so far and thus it is expected that they will qualify for the final. 

After a long time, Team India finally has a good chance of lifting a major trophy. They were eliminated from the Group Stage in T20 World Cup 2021 and in the recently played Asia Cup 2022. Therefore, if they win the competition this time it will be much of a redemption for them.
