Here Is The Reason Why Shubman Gill Was Angry After Completing 200 Against New Zealand

Shubman Gill became the youngest cricketer to slam a double century in ODI cricket today. The right-handed batter achieved the feat in the first ODI of the ongoing series against the New Zealand cricket team. Gill scored 208 runs off 149 balls and helped the Indian cricket team post a grand total of 349 runs on the board in the first innings.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Sharma’s decision proved to be a good one as his opening partner Gill enjoyed batting on the wicket in Hyderabad. The young Indian batter completed his maiden ODI double hundred, destroying the bowling lineup of the New Zealand team.

Gill’s 208-run innings played a huge role in India’s success in the first innings. The rest of the Indian batters could not contribute much. Not a single Indian batter apart from Gill could even complete his half-century.

However, some fans might have noticed during the match that Gill was a little angry after he completed his double century. You can watch the video of his celebration here:

While Gill had a big smile on his face, there was some anger visible as well. According to ESPNCricinfo, Gill became emotional during the celebration, which is why fans felt that he was angry.

Shubman Gill batted pretty special to get them to 349: Daryl Mitchell

New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell spoke with the host broadcasters at the end of the first innings. Mitchell lauded Gill’s performance and said:

“It was good fun, amazing atmosphere with all the crowd, obviously would’ve been happy to restrict them but let’s hope we chase this down and have a good night. Gill batted pretty special to get them to 349.”

Mitchell said that New Zealand will look to take the game deep and try to complete a successful run-chase.
