Sri Lankan cricket team put up a decent fight in the eighth edition of the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Despite losing to United Arab Emirates in the first game, they went on to win the next two games to qualify for the Super 12.
However, as far as the Super 12 stage is concerned, they were able to win only two games. On the other hand, they lost the rest of the three games. As a result, they finished fourth on the Group 1 points table.
Sri Lanka were eliminated from the competition but will surely take some positives from the tournament. However, there is no doubt that there have been improvements on certain areas where they looked dangerous at some moments.
Sri Lanka likely to tour India or 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is
Meanwhile, in the latest development, it has been confirmed that Sri Lanka are likely to tour India for white-ball assignments. Sri Lanka will play three ODIs and as many T20Is against Team India.
It will be quite interesting to see how this series pans out. Following India’s exit from the T20I World Cup 2022, reports were rife that many senior players of the Indian cricket team will not feature in the shortest format next year.
With the ODI World Cup scheduled to be held next year in India, the team management wants senior players to focus on playing the One-Day Internationals and the Test format. The assignment is expected to take place after India’s tour of Bangladesh.
India’s next assignment will be against New Zealand. The Men in Blue will play 3 T20Is followed by 3 ODIs (November 18 to November 30). After that, India will jet off to Bangladesh for 3 ODIs and 2 Tests (December 4 to December 26).
