‘He is unconcerned by the trolls and the fury on social media’-Arshdeep Singh’s childhood coach reveals what he told him after the game against Pakistan

Jaswant Rai, who has coached Arshdeep Singh since he was a youngster, said that the left-arm bowler was unmoved by the harsh criticism that followed the lost catch that Arshdeep Singh committed against Pakistan in the Super 4s stage of the 2022 Asia Cup.

Despite a tense last over, the kid was able to dismiss Asif Ali in the last over but dropped him when he was at 0. Nonetheless, this was not enough to save a win for the Men in Blue.

Arshdeep Singh was the target of extensive criticism and mocking from supporters on various social media platforms, even though the team management and his teammates were by his side after the match. The bowler who was born in Punjab was the one who was responsible for delivering some of the hardest overs throughout the competition, and as a result, he solidified his position as one of the top death bowlers in the country.

What did Jaswant Rai say about Arsdheep Singh?

In an interview with the Times of India, Jaswant Rai said that he had a conversation with the pacer after the competition in Dubai had concluded. He stated the following:

“After Pakistan won the match, Arshdeep and I had a conversation. Additionally, he let me know via a message that he is unconcerned by the trolls and the fury on social media. He was irritated with himself because he had given Pakistan a boundary. Because of that boundary, he felt hopeless and defeated.”

After a costly penultimate over bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the rookie bowler had just seven runs in the bank at that point. He was successful in extending the game by bowling a pair of well-executed yorkers and getting Asif Ali out of the game. Despite this, Pakistan was able to pull off the victory with one ball to spare.

In the second match against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma decided to use the same strategy as in the previous match. Once again, the death-over specialist was only given seven runs to defend in the last over, and the team that ended up winning the Asia Cup was able to accomplish this target in five deliveries.
