In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Times of India, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
This will come as a major blow for KKR as not they will lose a quality batter but also the skipper of the team. Iyer was brilliant with the bat for the team last season as he consistently scored runs and was decent as the captain as well.
Iyer complained of a back injury ahead of the Day 5 of the fourth Test against Australia in Ahmedabad and was ruled out of the game followed by the ODI series. It is learned that the back injury that has troubled him for a while has reoccurred and might take some time to heal.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will begin from take begin from 31st March with the final set to take place on 28th May. All the franchises have kick-started their preparations for the league and it is expected that like all the seasons, it’ll be another enthralling season.
Talking about the Kolkata Knight Riders, the two-time champions would be eager to stage a comeback after their dismal outing last season. The KKR players are toiling hard ahead of the season and are putting in the hard yards in their pre-tournament sessions.
