“Consistency as the number one test bowler”, Twitter reacts after Pat Cummins bowls a gem of a delivery to dismiss Kraigg Brathwaite to complete 200 Test wickets

The Australian national cricket team led by Pat Cummins performed incredibly well against the West Indies cricket team in the first of the two-match Test series at Perth Stadium in Perth.

Batting first, the hosts posted a humongous total of 598/4 and then declared the innings. Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith led the batting attack by example by smashing a double century apiece.

While Marnus scored 204 runs with the help of 20 fours and a six, Steve Smith scored 200 with the help of 16 boundaries. Travis Head also looked good for his 99 with the help of 11 boundaries.

In response to Australia’s total in the first innings, West Indies responded pretty well in the form of Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul as the duo added a 78-run opening stand before Josh Hazlewood provided a much-needed breakthrough for the hosts by taking the wicket of Tagenarine Chanderpaul

After that, the likes of Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood tried to take the game away by slowly adding runs or the team. Meanwhile, Australian skipper Pat Cummins provided a breakthrough by getting rid of the West Indies captain.

The right-arm paceman bowled an absolute gem of a delivery to get rid of Brathwaite as the latter was clean bowled in the second ball of the 55th over. The West Indies captain tried to defend the ball in the first place but he misjudged the line completely.

As it happened, the batsman was beaten all ends up as the red cherry went on to make a mess of his stumps. In the process, Pat Cummins completed his 200th Test wicket.

The visitors are now struggling to score runs in the first innings. After the lunch session, West Indies lost wickets at regular intervals and they scored 278/7 in 94 overs.
