Injuries have given the Indian team a setback ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022. Key players like Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Deepak Chahar have missed the tournament due to injuries and have given a massive setback to the team.

It was Jadeja who first suffered the knee injury and was ruled out of the tournament. After, that Jasprit Bumrah due to a back injury was out of the event. If this was not enough, to hamper India’s chances more, Deepak Chahar also suffered a back injury and was deemed unfit to play in the upcoming World Cup.

Although he was not a part of the main squad but was in contention to replace Bumrah and was in the standby list also. Following his injury, Mohammad Shami got the nod ahead and was named in the side as a replacement player.

Since then there have been many changes in the BCCI as well. Roger Binny has been appointed as the president of the board and has made some bold statements after being named as the head of the governing body.

Speaking at the felicitation ceremony organized by Karnataka State Cricket Association, Binny highlighted Bumrah’s injury and said:

“You can’t have Jasprit Bumrah breaking down 10 days before the World Cup. We need to address why and how are players are getting injured so badly. We need to address why they are breaking down so easily. Not just now but also in the last four-five years.”

“The pitches are still too docile,” Roger Binny about Indian pitche

The new BCCI President also was critical of the Indian pitches, he said that they are unfit for the fast bowlers and they need to prepare good pitches so that players are well prepared as they go for an overseas tour. He said:

“The pitches are still too docile, they are unfit for the fast bowlers. We also need to look at infrastructure. 30-40 thousand fans come to stadiums (for India games), they need to be comfortable.”
