Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway’s blazing combination set the stage for the triumph, while the CSK bowlers finished it off with a professional performance.
After losing Prithvi Shaw for a low score in the second over of their chase, the Delhi Capitals’ innings got off to the worst possible start. Deepak Chahar’s double dismissal of Phil Salt and Rilee Rossouw in the powerplay’s last over put the home team under intense strain.
After a terrible powerplay, the home team had an uphill battle from which they never seemed like they would be able to recover and threatened to make a comeback. David Warner, the experienced Australian captain for Delhi, entertained the home audience with some wonderful smashes and his antics while playing a lone hand without any help from the other end.

In a massive opening partnership of 141 runs, CSK’s premier opening pair showed no compassion to the Delhi spinners, with Gaikwad taking the initiative. Gaikwad was dismissed after an easy 79-run inning, but the New Zealand opener kept up the pressure. Shivam Dube, who has been on a six-hitting tear throughout the competition, provided stalwart support.
Despite the visitors’ desperate need for fast runs in the last overs, Conway was dismissed for 87 runs after facing just 52 deliveries. Ravindra Jadeja, a star Indian all-rounder, smashed 20 runs off just seven balls to help the Yellow Army reach a massive 223 runs and put an end to any hopes of a late comeback from the hosts.
After the end of the game, captain MS Dhoni gave credit to the players and the management for the success of the team. He said that this team does not depend on individual performance, but on the team performance only.
