Australia’s best batsman Steve Smith is eagerly waiting to showcase his mettle in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Team India. Steve Smith is well aware of the fact that the upcoming challenge won’t be an easy one.
The last time when Australia won the Test series in India was back in 2004. Since then, they failed to bring the best out of themselves against Team India in the Test series in India.
During Australia’s tour of India in 2017, the visitors drew first blood in the series by beating India by a massive margin of 333 runs at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
On the other hand, Team India made a rebound in the next Test by beating Australia by 75 runs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The third Test between India and Australia ended in a draw at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.
Steven Smith rates the Test series win in India is bigger than the Ashes win
The fourth and final Test between India and Australia ended in favour of Team India as the hosts beat the visitors by eight wickets at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.
Rightly so, Team India won the series by 2-1 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, Steve Smith has rated the Test series win in India is even bigger than the Ashes win.
It is not that easy to win a Test series in India and the fact that India lost just two Tests at home in the last decade goes to show impeccable domination by the Indians in Test cricket.
India’s two defeats at home came against England and Australia at home. Despite losing the Test, India went on to win the respective series against England and Australia respectively.
The first Test between India and Australia will kick-start on February 9 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

Cos they win Ashes all the time. India was the last frontier for a lot of their legendary captains. Ponting's side conquered it. Now they want to do the same

I won’t call it bigger as Ashes have history attached to it. But in modern time I believe beating India in India is a tough task
