According to recent news by PTI, team India will be playing over 25 ODIs and 12 T20Is till the ODI World Cup 2023 that is scheduled to be played in India. Thus, the blues will get ample opportunity to brush things up and practice for the much anticipated mega tournament. However, there are also some major things that need to be kept in mind and we will talk about some of them in this article.
India have always been very successful on their home turf. The last ICC tournament that they won was the 2011 ODI World Cup and that was played in India. Ever since, the Blues have gone through a trophy drought. It is noteworthy that since 2011, none of the ICC tournaments have been played in India and 2023 will break that chain. Coincidence? Probably not.
The 2023 ODI World Cup will be India’s best bet at breaking their trophy drought and they have to make the best of it. But for that to happen, Team India will have to start taking things seriously from now.
In the 25 ODIs and 12 T20Is that they will play before the World Cup, it is important that they do not experiment randomly but have a fixed plan in mind. Any change they make in their squad or playing XI must be done with the World Cup in mind.
The biggest worry regarding this plan is the second team captained by Shikhar Dhawan that India now have. It is not time to keep a second team so that the main players can get some rest. If some players from that team perform well, they should be brought into the main team and the main team itself should play all the matches. Shubman Gill is one of the names that come to mind while talking about this issue.

And they will maintain the bilateral win streak. That’s all. And they’ll lose in playoffs like always. https://t.co/RMvyiSXoc0

Why should now internatiomal bilateral T20's be played in this cycle where we have a ODI WC at home in 11 months time. Lack of match practice in one day cricket a big concern for Team India. https://t.co/ICb7L6BOhe
