“A Test call up 12 years after debut”, Twitter reacts as Jaydev Unadkat gets included in the Indian Test Team for the Bangladesh series

India will take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series after the conclusion of the ODI series. Mohammed Shami is unavailable for the series due to his shoulder injury. The names of Navdeep Saini and Umran Malik were in the running to take Shami’s spot. However, it is Jaydev Unadkat who will join the Indian Team in Bangladesh. On that note, here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as Jaydev Unadkat gets included in the Indian Test Team for the Bangladesh series.

Jaydev Unadkat in the Test Team for the Bangladesh series

It was 12 years ago that Unadkat last played for Team India. A 19-year-old then, Unadkat had shown a lot of promise and hence, to add variety to the attack, Unadkat was selected. He was very raw and was unable to leave an impact. Nevertheless, he did get to play in the shorter formats but here, too, Unadkat’s form was short-lived.

On the other hand, the Saurashtra pacer has been brilliant in the domestic circuit. While he broke the record for most wickets by a pacer in Ranji Trophy a few seasons ago, he has also captained his team to a few Ranji Trophy titles. Unadkat also recently led Saurashtra to the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 championship. All this while, Unadkat also honed his batting skills and is now seen as a bowling all-rounder. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, India needs experience against Bangladesh in the pace attack. Although the likes of Siraj are still the favourites to land a place in the XI, Unadkat will still fancy a chance.

Meanwhile, Twitter was happy that Unadkat finally earned his spot in the Indian Team. In recent years, he has been judged a lot based only on his IPL performances. However, in the other two formats and for that matter, even in domestic T20s, Unadkat has been exceptional. Here is how Twitter reacted to his selection for the Indian Team:
