Babar Azam has had a tough run till now in the T20 World Cup. He is yet to cross double digits in the three games held so far. For a player of his stature, that is a disappointing return. Many experts are giving suggestions and Gautam Gambhir also had one for the Pakistan skipper. Here, we take a look as Gautam Gambhir asks Babar Azam to bat at No.3 for the benefit of the team.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are the openers for Pakistan. Both these cricketers are not known for their high strike rates. Hence, overall, the team is suffering due to the slow starts by the duo. When one player uses a few deliveries, the player at the other end is not able to compensate for that. Hence, both are applying pressure on each other, which has resulted in their failure.
Gautam Gambhir had a suggestion for the Pakistan captain. He asked Babar Azam to bat at No.3 and allow Fakhar Zaman to open the batting alongside Rizwan. While talking on air on Star Sports, Gambhir said, “In my opinion, first you should think about your team instead of yourself. A captain shouldn’t be selfish.” A few days ago, even Wasim Akram had a similar suggestion to Babar.
Pakistan’s batting unit might need a few changes
If not in the ongoing competition, Pakistan’s T20I batting line-up might undergo a few changes after the event. The team has the luxury of some fine all-rounders such as Shadab Khan who add depth to the batting unit.
However, the management has not been able to make good use of resources. The template is still old school and the modern T20 style is yet to be adopted. If Pakistan can make a few changes in this direction, they will have a solid batting attack.
