Harbhajan Takes A Subtle Dig At Indian Selectors; Raina Likes His Tweet

The Indian selectors raised many eyebrows after they announced the 15-man squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. One of the biggest surprises to emerge from the team announcement was the absence of Yuzvendra Chahal, who has done so well in the shorter formats of the game. Chahal was regularly playing T20 cricket for the country in the last few years, but he was dropped all of a sudden. Now, former Indian cricketer, Harbhajan Singh has come out in support of the leg-spinner.

In yesterday’s match between the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chahal bowled an excellent spell of 3/11. He broke the opening partnership of Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma and then sent Ishan Kishan and Jasprit Bumrah back to the pavilion. His three-wicket haul played a vital role in the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s win against the Mumbai Indians at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium last night.

“Did Yuzvendra Chahal bowl fast or slow?”- Harbhajan Singh

Soon after the match, Kolkata Knight Riders off-spinner Harbhajan Singh made a tweet, asking the fans if Yuzvendra Chahal bowled fast or slow in the match against the Mumbai Indians. When the selectors were asked about the reason why they left Chahal out of the squad and selected Rahul Chahar over him, they had stated that Chahar bowls a little faster.

“Did Chahal bowl fast or slow today, guys ??? 4–0-11-3 what a spell champion,” Harbhajan Singh subtly took a dig at the selection committee.

Suresh Raina liked the tweet

The latest tweet by Harbhajan Singh for Yuzvendra Chahal has gone viral on the social media platform as it has received close to 30,000 likes and more than 2,000 retweets. One of the accounts that has liked the tweet is the official Twitter handle of Suresh Raina.

This seemingly suggests that even Raina would have wanted to see Chahal representing the country at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. This could even mean Raina liked the tweet because Harbhajan praised Chahal. He did not leave any comment, so there is no proper explanation. Chahal will be in action next on Wednesday when RCB battles RR in Dubai.
