The franchises of the Indian Premier League recently released the list of players that they will be retaining and the ones that they would be letting go off, prior to the start of the auction for this season of the tournament. There were many names whose presence in either of the categories surprised many people. Among them was Kedar Jadhav, who was released by his franchise, the Chennai Super Kings.
A player like him with the international and domestic experience behind his back would be really sought after. So, it will be interesting to see which team picks him up and here’s a list of 4 such teams who should try and win him into the side in the bidding war when his name comes up during the auction.
1. Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals as a team have been known in the Indian Premier League to have had invested heavily in younger talents in the recent seasons. Players like Riyan Parg and Kartik Tyagi have been have been backed by the team management and they have performed well too.
But, the one part that they would look and want to invest would be to rope in an experienced Indian all-rounder, and, with Kedar Jadhav up for grabs in the upcoming auction, the team would want to get him in. With the amount of international and domestic experience he has at hand, his inputs could prove to be really helpful for the team’s newly appointed captain, Sanju Samson.
2. Kolkata Knight Riders
While it may not seem probable or evident to the average cricket fan at the first sight, but the Kolkata Knight Riders are a team that would very fondly go for Kedar Jadhav if given a chance to. They will potentially be engaging a bidding war with another franchise during the upcoming 2021 IPL Auction.
The Kolkata Knight Riders are another team like the Rajasthan Royals who since the last season of the tournament, left out on many older Indian players like Robin Uthappa, and invested in the youngsters. But, going into the 2021 season of IPL they would want to rope in a player of the calibre of Kedar Jadhav who has been known to play well and would actually fit in the side well given the kind of players that the side has chosen to retain.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Sunrisers Hyderabad are one of the teams who could benefit a lot with the presence of Kedar Jadhav into their side. With Shakib-al-Hasan all set to return to playing for the side from this season onwards, the space of an all-rounder for the side is already taken up.
The way that the team could benefit from Jadhav’s presence in the team would be in the form of a backup player to immediately take his place and give him a break if the needs be. And, if there is a place or a need to get in another all-rounder into the side, he could easily slip in and compliment the playing style of Hasan and win games.
4. Kings XI Punjab
The Kings XI Punjab in recent years have been through a lot. They have won games and have lost plenty of those too, and this has brought in a lot of changes in the dynamics of the side, with everything from the leadership and the management seeing a change. And, the team’s management might consider bringing in the experienced all-rounder- Kedar Jadhav into the fray for this season.
His inclusion into the side would bring in a lot of experience along with him into the side, which is much needed. The void of an experienced all-rounder into the side, which has been created owing to the potential departure of Glenn Maxwell. Kedar’s presence would mean that the all-rounder’s spot could be filled in by him and it would free up a spot in the side to be taken up by a foreign player.
