Indian national cricket team have long been rated as one of the top teams in international cricket. The Men in Blue have won two ICC ODI World Cups, 2 Champions Trophies (1 shared with Sri Lanka in 2002), 1 T20 World Cup.
The Men in Blue last won the ICC title back in 2013 as they made it all the way to the finals under MS Dhoni’s captaincy and defeated England in England in the Champions Trophy.
Since then, they have been struggling to win an ICC trophy. During the recently-concluded ICC T20 World Cup, they qualified for the semi-finals of the competition by topping the Group 2 points table with 8 points.
On the other hand, they failed to bring the best out of themselves in the semi-final against England as they lost the game by 10 wickets. Now, India are in New Zealand to play the white-ball assignment.
Team India lost last five ODIs against New Zealand cricket team
Earlier, the Men in Blue won the T20I series by 1-0 under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. Now, the action shifted to the ODI series as the opening fixture between the two teams took place at Eden Park in Auckland.
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to field first. India tried their best to put up a good total on the board, aggregating 306/7 in their quota of 50 overs.
Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill scored 80, 77 and 50 respectively. In response, New Zealand cricket team chased down the target with the help of Kane Williamson and Tom Latham.
The left and right hand combination caused Team India a lot of problems by adding a match-winning partnership of 221 runs for the fourth wicket. New Zealand beat India by seven wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
With that win, New Zealand won their fifth consecutive ODI game against the Indian cricket team. Team India had a chance to go on top of the ICC ODI Team rankings if they win all three games of the ODI series. However, the defeat in the first ODI against Kiwis means that they have lost the opportunity to top the spot.

Now we see the need of Bhuvi and Bumrah in bowling line up . And Washington should given long run with Shahbaz Ahmed in reserves. Using leggie in small ground always backfires
