After a great match that ultimately ended up being one sided, England have beaten Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup final to lift their first ever T20 World Cup trophy. It has been a great victory for them and it must be said that they deserved it totally. On the other hand, we also must appreciate the Pakistani players who tried till the very last delivery to change things in the favor but ultimately failed to do so.
Talking about the incidents of the match, England won the toss and decided to bowl first. It was a tricky but correct decision. They were quick enough to pick up early wickets. Thanks to Sam Curran and Ben Stokes, England quickly dismantled the top order of Pakistan. Mohammad Rizwan went out early and Mohammad Haris followed him. However hard Babar Azam tried, he could only acore 32 runs and that was clearly not enough. Pakistan scored just 137 runs in the first innings and that was not a good total.
Coming on to chase, England lost early wickets as well but they were able to keep up their run rate. Captain Jos Buttler maintained his composure to the very end and it was he who gave England a solid ground. His knock of 26 runs might not be great but it was what England needed.
From their, Ben Stokes took on the reins of the match. it was he who had lost England the World Cup final back in 2018 in the last over against Carlos Braithwaite and he has finally redeemed himself in this match by winning the trophy for England with his groundbreaking performance tonight.
Ben Stokes scored a brilliant 52 off 49 and made sure that England won this final match. This is a special win for England and their first ever T20 World Cup trophy.
