“It’s a rule and to hell the spirit of the game,” Hardik Pandya on Mankading

Mankading mode of dismissal has been in the talks of late.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has opened up about the Mankading issue. He has given his verdict on the issue and has said that it’s within the rule and spirit of the game before adding that if he ever will be at the receiving end of the dismissal, he’ll accept his mistake and walk off.

“We need to stop making a fuss about running out batters at the non-striker end,” Hardik Pandya on Mankading

Over the years, the Mankading has been in the talks. The mode of dismissal has invited a massive debate with many calling it within the spirit of the game whereas some terming it as against the spirit of the game.

It recently hogged the headlines when Deepti Sharma effected this mode of dismissal in the WODI against England. Since then many cricket experts and cricketers have argued with each other on the same.

MCC recently moved Mankading, which is running out the batter at the non-striker’s end by the bowler if he leaves the crease before the ball is delivered, from Law 41 (Unfair play) to Law 38 (Run out).

Now Hardik Pandya also has given his take on the same. Speaking to ICC, he said that fuss shouldn’t be made out of the dismissal as it is well within the rules of the game. He said:

“We need to stop making a fuss about running out batters at the non-striker end, it’s a rule and to hell the spirit of the game – if I am out of the crease, someone runs me out, I am okay with it as it’s my mistake”.

Sachin Tendulkar gives his take on the Mankading issue

Recently former Indian skipper Sachin Tendulkar also gave his opinion on the same. Speaking to Sportstar, he said that if it’s within the rules of the game, then it’s called the Spirit of Cricket

“Whatever you are playing within the rules of the game, that is called Spirit of cricket” he said.
