Injuries are a part and parcel of an athlete’s career. Cricketers usually are less vulnerable to injuries compared to players in other sports like football. Nevertheless, with the emergence of the T20 format, players could tend to suffer problems with their fitness due to workload. At times, they get to miss a lot of games due to their injuries. In recent times, some talented players have had to go through this ordeal. On that note, here, we take a look at three international players who missed many games due to injury recently.
1) Jofra Archer (England)
One of the best pacers of this generation, Jofra Archer has consistently missed games across formats. This has been happening since the 2019 World Cup, in which he helped his team lift the trophy.
While elbow issues have been the main problem, some freak injuries like the one which happened while cleaning his fish tank have also hampered his progress. It is in March 2021 that Jofra last played an international game. Since then, he has had to undergo through multiple surgeries and apart from his elbow, the pacer now also has an issue with his back.
2) KL Rahul (India)
KL Rahul is also one of the international players who missed many games due to injury recently. After he started his career with India, Rahul had issues with his hamstring and with his shoulder, as well.
However, he made a strong comeback and was part of the side for a long time. That said, injuries have started to hamper his progress again. He had to miss the home T20I series against South Africa due to a groin strain. There was surgery and later on, he contracted COVID, as well. In 2022, alone, the batter has not participated in more than five tournaments either due to injury or rest. He is already 30 and must work on his fitness as a priority.
3) Mitchell Marsh (Australia)
Ankle issues have disturbed Mitchell Marsh throughout his career. He lost the opportunity to be a part of many games in the past.
That said, the Aussie is doing well right now. He is focussing mostly on the shorter formats and he is also bowling less. This has helped the all-rounder to focus on his skills, which are at their peak at the moment.
