After winning the first ODI against West Indies, not many expected Rahul Dravid and Shikhar Dhawan to make a change to the XI. However, pacer Prasidh Krishna had to sit out and Avesh Khan came in his place. That said, a few fans were not happy with Avesh being selected. They felt that Arshdeep Singh would have been a better fit for the XI. Here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted to Arshdeep Singh missing the India vs West Indies 2nd ODI.
Arshdeep Singh misses India vs West Indies 2nd ODI
Although Prasidh Krishna enjoyed a fine start to his ODI career, his performances off late have not been consistent. While he bowled good deliveries, he negated them with some bad balls, which started affecting the team. His effort on the field has also been underwhelming. With so many players waiting in the wings, Prasidh had to make way.
Avesh Khan has been in and around the Indian Team for a while now. He has understandably been given his ODI debut. However, Arshdeep Singh was also a good contender to take Prasidh’s place. It is a while since Team India has had a good left-arm pace option for all phases of the game. Arshdeep Singh did well in the recent T20I games and hence, was in pretty decent form. Therefore, a few fans expected him in the XI.
Twitter unhappy with India’s selection for India vs West Indies 2nd ODI
Rahul Dravid‘s man-management has been on point ever since he took over Team India. On most occasions, he has given chances to players based on the priority in which they were selected by him to Team India. A few games ago, Deepak Hooda was preferred over Sanju Samson. This was because Deepak was first selected by Rahul and then Sanju. The same logic has been applied to Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh. Here is how Twitter reacted to the same:
West Indies series was the best way to test Arshdeep Singh ability in ODI!
India badly need left arm pacer who can swing the ball both direction during PP!
Not sure what was the reason behind Avesh Khan's selection as India already have many Right Arm Pacers!#WIvIND#WIvsIND pic.twitter.com/qEj3IxyUkJ

Matches: 17, Wickets: 21, Eco : 4.76 Avg : 30.9I don't know, on what basis these players get picked ahead of Arshdeep Singh! Extremely awful selection. pic.twitter.com/TwfdIa8T34

T20i success shouldn't help you play in odis .
Avesh Khan has an average of 50 in this List A career , Arshdeep has 30 . But let's go with Avesh cause he did well in ipl 🔥🔥

Fir ye bolte h we don't have left arm pacer 🤡🤡
Jab h to use nahi karteAvesh khan provide no extra quality in bowling attack
Instead should prepare and groom arshdeep as our 3rd pacer
India badly needs that left armer in white ball format https://t.co/xZbgBqV6LG

arshdeep talent will be wasted by these fools

If India wants a left armer in T20 WC in Australia now was the time to try out Arshdeep Singh, Idk what Dravid and Management is thinking by picking Krishna and Shardul over him.
You cant just take youngster directly into the WC.— JoeCricket_ | ROHIRAT ERA (@Joecricket_) July 24, 2022
The full strength Indian team will need a left arm fast bowler to have variety in the bowling attack, but the team management will play Avesh khan ahead of Arshdeep, which serves no purpose when we already have shami and siraj. #WIvIND

What does Avesh offer to the team that Arshdeep doesn’t?

It just hurts the way they ignored Arshdeep everytime despite thrashing of their so called exceptional talent #IndvsWI
