“Can You Genuinely Find Out The Solution You Are Seeking For”- Aakash Chopra Questions The Absence Of Big Players In The T20I Series Against South Africa
IND vs SA Live Update: During the Twenty20 International series that India will play against South Africa, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has questioned whether or not Team India will be able to get the answers to some of the questions that they have regarding their squad for the Twenty20 World Cup later this year.
KL Rahul will lead the 18-man Indian team that will compete in the five Twenty20 Internationals against the Proteas. Some of the most notable players, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja, have been sidelined with either a decision to rest or an injury that prevents them from playing.
Aakash Chopra raised some concerns about the effectiveness of the Twenty20 International series that would be played against South Africa in a video that was uploaded to his channel on YouTube. He argued as follows:
“You are attempting to check the boxes, but how many things will you be able to find out since Rohit, Kohli, Bumrah, and Jadeja are not there?” When it comes time to prepare the squad for the World Cup, you will see all of these folks again. Therefore, do you genuinely find out the information that you are seeking? That is the most important question.”
Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad would be battling for a slot that none of them will be able to claim as their own, as pointed out by the former cricket player turned broadcaster. According to Aakash Chopra’s reasoning:
“The key issue that has been and will continue to be asked is who will open for India. No matter what, Rahul and Rohit will be present. You will offer an opportunity to either Ishan or Ruturaj, but whoever plays here, as soon as Rohit arrives, they will be required to quit the place.”
IND vs SA Live Update: Aakash Chopra feels that Hardik Pandya will get a bigger role in the series
Aakash Chopra did admit, though, that it is possible that Hardik Pandya would be given a more major part in the series. He went on to explain:
“If Kohli and Rohit aren’t playing, it won’t matter much who bats first or who bats third since it won’t make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. The most significant change may be that Hardik Pandya will have the opportunity to play. As a result, he may obtain a higher batting position. This may lead to an improvement in his overall performance.”
The 44-year-old veteran said that Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, and Shreyas Iyer are some of the other guys in the batting department who will be closely monitored. Chopra elaborated as follows:
“Since SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) is not available, both Rishabh Pant or Dinesh Karthik may play, or it could be any one of them. In the middle order, Shreyas Iyer will be allowed to bat. He performed really well against Sri Lanka, but the issue is whether or not he can play in the same manner. He had concerns with the shot ball in the IPL.”
Aakash Chopra also brought up the fact that Iyer would most likely be put through his paces by a slew of bouncers, including the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Marco Jansen.
