“Hold That Leg Stump Line And Stay Still”- David Warner Reveals The Advice He Gave To Aaron Finch To Get Out Of His Struggles

SL vs AUS Live Update: During the course of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Australian opening batsman David Warner said that he remained in regular contact with Aaron Finch. On Tuesday, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Australia defeated Sri Lanka by ten wickets in the first Twenty20 international match of the series between the two countries.

The skipper of the limited-overs format has been having a tough time with the bat for a considerable amount of time lately. Despite his status as captain, Finch’s participation in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2022 was in question because his average in international cricket over the last year was just 19.90.

With his second successive fifty for Australia in the shortest format, the 35-year-old has shown a glimmer of form for the first time in quite some time.

SL vs AUS Live Update: David Warner reveals the advice that he gave to Aaron Finch

Following Australia’s victory, Warner said that he gave Finch some sound advice, telling him to eliminate his signature walk-out to the ball:

“I have just recently cautioned him not to step out to hit the ball. If they want to bowl a full, you should let the ball truly do its thing while it is in the air. If you hold that leg stump line and don’t move, you’re going to make full contact with the ball, and if it swings late, it’s going to travel down the leg. If you remain steady, you’ll get full contact.”

Warner added: “I continued to communicate with him. We usually do. We are always there for one another to provide any assistance we can. If we see anything at all, we always make an effort to communicate with one another to assist one another.

To counteract the swing, the seasoned batsman included a walk-out into his arsenal of moves. After that, the pacers went on to attack the opener with inswingers, which Finch clearly had a difficult time coping with.

“When he’s calm and collected, that’s when he performs at his very best.” – David Warner on Finch

Finch had a hard time getting going during the chase for 129 runs in the first game of the series. It was the third ball he faced from Maheesh Theeksana when he was given out LBW, but a good DRS saved his life.

He continued to bat without being defeated, reaching 61 after 40 deliveries and hitting eight fours.

David Warner encouraged Aaron Finch to maintain his composure while playing the game, saying: “I believe that we saw it earlier tonight. When he was nice and still, he played some wonderful strokes. he had a good feel for when the ball should be hit. This is when he is at his finest.”

In conclusion, Warner stated: “It was wonderful to see him out there today. He had the energy while running between the wickets. It was wonderful to see him.”

Later on in 2022, the captain of the white-ball squad will be hoping to maintain their recent success and lead their team to victory at the Twenty20 World Cup 2022. Australia may become the first team to successfully defend their championship on their own turf.
