SunRisers Hyderabad were officially eliminated from IPL 2022 after the Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated the Gujarat Titans. They have one more match remaining this season, but irrespective of what happens in that game, the Hyderabad-based franchise have no chance of making it to the IPL 2022 playoffs.
The Hyderabad-based franchise was one of the top teams on the points table midway during IPL 2022 as they registered five consecutive wins, but they lost steam after that and never bounced back. SRH made some major changes to their squad this year, but it seems more work needs to be done.
In this listicle now, we will look at the three overseas players SunRisers Hyderabad may target for the next season.
1. SunRisers Hyderabad may try to sign Adam Zampa
There was a time when Hyderabad had two of the best overseas spinners – Rashid Khan and Mujeeb ur Rahman in their squad. However, this year, their main spinners were Washington Sundar and Shreyas Gopal. While Sundar did a decent job, injuries did not allow him to play regularly. Someone like Adam Zampa, who performed exceptionally well in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, could be a fantastic addition to the SRH squad.
2. SunRisers Hyderabad may sign their former player Martin Guptill
Abhishek Sharma had a great season as an opener for SRH, but his partner Kane Williamson could not get going. In 2023, SRH may look to try a new opening pair. An aggressive player like Martin Guptill can be a great addition to the Hyderabad-based franchise.
3. Shakib Al Hasan
Another former SRH player to feature on the list is Shakib Al Hasan, who surprisingly went unsold at the IPL 2022 Auction. Shakib can give four overs of left-arm spin to the captain along with some great batting skills in the middle overs. His presence can give a lot of balance to the SRH lineup.
