5. Herschelle Gibbs
Herschelle Gibbs is one of those players whom you expect to be in the history and record books for all the good reasons and not for being one of those 5 players who have had the most number of ducks to their name in an IPL season.
The hard-hitting opener from South Africa played in 36 games in the Indian Premier League and had a decent record to his name in the tournament too, but in the fateful 2009 season, he was dismissed out for a duck in 4 consecutive matches, getting his name registered in this infamous list.
4. Mithun Manhas
A pillar of a player when playing for his state team, Mithun Manhas, is one of the 5 players who are a part of the infamous list of players who have registered the most number of ducks to their name in IPL.
As many may not be aware Mithun has a pretty decent IPL record to his name, with his name appearing in the playing XI on 55 occasions, where he scored 514 runs at a strike rate of 109.36. But, in the 2011 season of IPL, where he played for the Pune Warriors India, he had as many as 4 matches where he was dismissed without opening his account and was dismissed for a duck.
3. Manish Pandey
Another superstar batsman making it into this list, Manish Pandey, who plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the moment, in the 2012 season of the Indian Premier League, just one year after Mithun Manhas became the second batsman to have 4 ducks in an IPL season, the most in a single one, Pandey was fated to become a part of the pack.
Playing for the same side as Mithun Manhas, the Pune Warriors India, did not start on a great note, getting a duck in his very first game. But, what would follow was not good at all for him or his team, as he continued to score 3 more of them.
2. Shikhar Dhawan
The star Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan as much as he did well in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League, became the joint holder of an unwanted record, which was of having the most number of ducks in a single IPL season.
Playing for the Delhi Capitals in the tournament, Dhawan had 618 runs to his name, but it was not a fairy tale for him, as he was dismissed for 0 on four occasions during the tournament. With a strike rate of 144.73 and an average of 44.14, no one could say that this man would have had such a record to his name.
1. Nicholas Pooran
The most recent entrant in this list, Nicholas Pooran in IPL 2021 became part of this list of players to have the most number of ducks in a single season, as he registered 4 ducks in the 6 appearances for his franchise, just in the first leg of the tournament.
He scored 2 consecutive ducks in the 2 first games of the season of his team and followed it up with a small 9 run grace saving knock, but it was not long before the 0 came in to haunt him, and he could hold on to his nerves only for just one game after that, as he got back to the nil score again, becoming the 5th player in the history of IPL to have 4 ducks to his name.
