As per IPL‘s rules, the mid-season transfer window is now open. This means that franchisees could now secure the services of a player from a different team for the remaining duration of the season. No deals have happened during this period so far in the history of the competition. In this article, we take a look at five players whom RCB can target in the mid-season transfer window.
Although RCB has gotten off to a good start, there are still a few visible loopholes in the squad. The lower middle-order of the batting unit is fragile, and there are overseas replacements needed, now that Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson have pulled out of the competition. Hence, there is scope for them to pull off a deal during the mid-season transfer.
1. Dawid Malan
As seen in the game against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, RCB can be vulnerable if a few early wickets fall. In fact, after AB de Villiers, the team does not have an established batsman to take responsibility. Dan Christian has been a disappointment so far.
Hence, a player like Dawid Malan could make RCB really strong. He could bat at No.3 and make things easy for the likes of Maxwell and ABD. In fact, Malan can also benefit by having a strong batting core below him. Hence, he is one player whom RCB must target in the mid-season transfer window.
2. Nathan Coulter-Nile
Nathan Coulter-Nile has surprisingly not been used by Mumbai Indians so far. He was purchased for an expensive amount at the auctions but has not featured extensively till now. Hence, he is available for a transfer during the mid-season window.
RCB may look to field an extra overseas pacer in the upcoming games. This player also needs to be able to contribute a little with the bat. NCN fits the bill perfectly. When he was there in RCB a few seasons ago, the Aussie could not feature for the outfit. He could do that this season if RCB can hire him.
3. Ben Cutting
Dan Christian has been underwhelming so far. RCB’s main intention to get him at the auctions was to provide the top-order with some insurance below them. But, the Aussie has been unable to do that.
Ben Cutting can be a suitable option to replace him in the XI. He can play the big shots and can be useful with the ball too. Moreover, Cutting is a better fielder than Dan. Hence, the KKR player is one cricketer whom RCB must target in the mid-season transfer window.
4. N Jagadeesan
No.3 position has been a conundrum for RCB this season. While Washington Sundar and Rajat Patidar have been disappointments, Shahbaz Ahmad does not look fit for the role.
N Jagadeesan has had a good domestic season, and as things stand, he might not get a game at CSK this edition. At RCB, though, the Tamil Nadu player can be a regular starter. His arrival would also relieve ABD of his wicket-keeping duties.
5. Mandeep Singh
RCB have struggled to field a good batsman at the No.3 and No.6 position this season. This has cost them the game against CSK and put them in a precarious situation in other encounters.
In this scenario, Mandeep Singh could be a good option for the franchise. Both at No.3 and No.6, Mandy can contribute better than the other batsmen being used currently. Moreover, he is experienced in the competition and has done well before for RCB.
