5 Australian Players Who Played Only 1 Match In IPL

Australian players have been quite dominant in the IPL history. The first two captains to lift the IPL trophy were Australian players. Shane Warne led the Rajasthan Royals to their maiden title in the year 2008, while Adam Gilchrist’s Deccan Chargers won the second edition of the Indian Premier League in the year 2009.

While players like Gilchrist and Warne led their franchises to the IPL championships, not all the cricketers of Australia achieved similar success. Quite surprisingly, the following five players from Australia only got to play a solitary match in their IPL careers. Here’s a list of the five names:

1. One of the top Australian players Brad Haddin played only 1 IPL match

Brad Haddin was once the first-choice wicket-keeper batter of the Australian team. Haddin made his IPL debut for KKR in IPL 2011 against RCB. He scored 18 runs in that game but never got to play again.

2. One of the current Australian players Michael Neser played only 1 IPL match

Michael Neser is a South Africa-born cricketer who represents the Australian team at the global stage. Neser received an opportunity to play in the IPL back in 2013. He made his debut for Punjab Kings against RCB and returned with figures of 0/62 in four overs.

3. Nathan Rimmington

Another Aussie speedster who played the only game of his IPL career for the Punjab Kings is Nathan Rimmington. He made his debut against Pune Warriors, bowled three overs and had figures of 0/19.

4. Ashley Noffke

Former Australian fast bowler Ashley Noffke featured in RCB’s playing XI for the inaugural IPL match in 2008 against KKR. Noffke bowled a four-over spell of 1/40 and was dropped from the team.

5. Damien Martyn

Damien Martyn was one of the top match-winners for Australia during his prime. He made his IPL debut in 2010 for the Rajasthan Royals. Martyn scored 19 runs off 24 balls in a game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
