4 cricketers who played for both Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL

Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) were one of the franchises that took part in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. The franchise represented the city of Kochi, Kerala in its entry in the IPL 2011 season.

For the record, KTK were one of the two new teams alongside Pune Warriors India that were inducted into the Indian Premier League. Kochi Tuskers Kerala were owned by Kochi Cricket Pvt Ltd., which was a consortium of multiple firms.

Needless to say, KTK played just one season, in 2011. However, the franchise was terminated the next year. Owing to a dispute amongst the team owners, KTK failed to pay the 10% bank guarantee component of the franchise fee which was actually supposed to be paid before the IPL 2011 kick-started.

Since they failed to provide the bank guarantee, they were terminated from the Indian Premier League. Now, in this article, let’s take a glimpse at the four players who played for both KTK and KKR in the IPL.

1. Brendon McCullum

Brendon McCullum kick-started the IPL with his batting exploits for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. He remained at the KKR franchise on multiple spells as he featured for them from 2008 to 2010. After that, he joined Kochi Tuskers Kerala in IPL 2021. In the subsequent season, he rejoined the KKR.

2. Brad Hodge

Brad Hodge was one of the four players who played for both Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Kolkata Knight Riders. For the unversed, the former Australian cricketer played 14 matches for KTK wherein he aggregated 285 runs to his name.

3. R Vinay Kumar

R Vinay Kumar was the only Indian to have featured for both Kolkata Knight Riders and Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Having played 105 games in the IPL, Vinay Kumar has taken 105 wickets to his name. Currently, he is operating as a bowling coach for MI Emirates.

4. Owais Shah

Former England international played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the IPL 2011 season. Besides that, he also had a short spell with the Kolkata Knight Riders during his IPL career.
