Scoring 150 runs and picking up a fifer is no mean feat by any stretch of the imagination. Not a number of cricketers have been able to achieve the milestone in their respective careers. But India have found quite a few players, who have gone on to get the feat.
Two of the three players in the list are among the only four players with 175 plus runs and a fifer in the same Test match. These players have gone on to become legends for their teams.

1. Vinoo Mankad against England
Back in June 1952, Vinoo Mankad scored 184 in India’s second innings of their second Test against England at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. Prior to that, he also picked up a five-wicket haul. Mankad also scored 72 runs in India’s first innings.
However, his efforts went in vain as the Brits won the game by eight wickets after chasing down 77. He was the first cricketer from India. to score 150 plus runs and get a fifer.
2. Polly Umrigar vs West Indies
Back in April 1962, Polly Umrigar became the second from India to score 150 plus runs and pick up a fifer in the same Test match. At the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, Umrigar picked up a five-wicket haul to start his outing. Thereafter, he scored an unbeaten 172.
Umrigar’s efforts went in vain as Frank Worrell’s West Indies won the match by seven wickets to take a 4-0 lead in the five-match series.
3. Ravindra Jadeja vs Sri Lanka
Ravindra Jadeja has been at his very best in the first Test against Sri Lanka at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. The veteran has become only the third cricketer from India to score over 150 runs and pick up a fifer in the same Test match.
He scored an unbeaten 175 after India opted to bat first. His knock was laced with 17 fours and three sixes. Thereafter, he picked up a fifer, helping India bowl Sri Lanka out for 174 in 65 overs.
