3 players whom KKR might mostly use as ‘Impact Substitution’

Kolkata Knight Riders started their season well in IPL 2022. However, after the core issues started to crop up, the team was not able to sustain the momentum. They have made a few additions before IPL 2023 to improve the squad. Yet, some of the issues are still present. Nevertheless, with the ‘Impact Player’ rule, they could try to address some of their problems. On that note, here, we take a look at three players whom KKR might mostly use as ‘Impact Substitution’.

1) Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav, just like KKR, started IPL 2022 well but the form then tapered off. However, with the ‘Impact Player’ rule, Umesh could be used better by Shreyas Iyer and co.

Since Umesh is terrific in the powerplay, the franchise can afford to finish his quote at the beginning itself. They could then bring on someone who can do better at the death for the remaining part of the game.

2) Mandeep Singh

Mandeep Singh is one of the players whom KKR might mostly use as an ‘Impact Substitution’ for IPL 2023. If KKR is bowling first, they would have an extra bowler in the starting XI.

However, in the second innings, they could bring on a pure batter to extend the batting line-up. In this case, Mandeep Singh would be a good option for the franchise. He is decent against pace and is also experienced enough in the competition. He would definitely add value to the batting line-up.

3) Varun Chakravarthy

If KKR is batting first, they would surely have one extra batter. They could have Umesh Yadav in the playing XI because in the lower order, he could strike a few big blows. However, it does not make sense to have Varun because he is not good with the willow.

In the second innings, though, Varun could come in as the ‘Impact Substitution’. Last season was tough for him but having played some cricket in the last few months, he would be expected to dish out a better show in IPL 2023.
