According to Scott Styris, a former all-rounder for New Zealand, Team India’s failure to advance beyond the group stage of the Twenty20 World Cup in 2021 was caused by their inability to play the kind of cricket that was most advantageous for their players.
In the international competition that took place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Virat Kohli and his team were eliminated after suffering defeats in both of their first matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. On the first day of the Asia Cup 2022, the Men in Blue will start the tournament by playing Pakistan, one of their most bitter rivals, in Dubai. The match will take place on August 28.

What did Scott Styris say?
Styris was questioned about Pakistan’s case being assisted by a very good local T20 league during a conversation on the program “Sports Over the Top”.
In response, he said: “As is generally known, India also has a highly competitive Twenty20 league. In my opinion, there will not be a deciding moment or a significant element in the outcome of this match. In my opinion, the ability to gel as a team and play a kind of cricket that is tailored to the strengths and preferences of each individual player is the most important factor. In my opinion, it was the most important shot that India did not take throughout the most recent Twenty20 World Cup.”

Styris is under the impression that India’s attitude to their first two games in the T20 World Cup was a little on the reserved side.
He observed: “Talk about those two games, those two defeats they had before they simply decided to go after the competition; they didn’t impose themselves with the quality and skill that they had available to them. I really hope India is able to do it at this Asia Cup.”
India’s start to their campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021 was a disappointing one, as they were defeated by Pakistan and New Zealand by ten wickets and eight wickets, respectively. They were able to get back on track and record comfortable victories in each of their remaining three league phase matches, but it was not enough for them to go to the knockout rounds.
