As per reports, Gujarat Titans are all set to trade Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians. It would be the biggest trade in IPL history. While it is not sure under what circumstances GT is making this decision, they will have some tough times ahead. Firstly, they will look for a new skipper. On that note, here, we take a look at three players who could captain Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024 if Hardik Pandya leaves the franchise.
1) Rashid Khan
Whenever Hardik Pandya was not available in the last two seasons, it was Rashid Khan who took over the mantle for GT. Therefore, the management might stick with this approach at least for IPL 2024.
Rashid is yet to prove himself as a captain. However, he is also yet to get a run of games as a skipper in the IPL. Therefore, he is on this list.
2) Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill is one of the players who could captain Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024 if Hardik Pandya leaves the franchise. If not immediately, Shubman Gill will surely be the future skipper of the side. GT might as well make that happen in IPL 2024.
Gill has not captained any teams in recent years. Hence, it is not sure if he is capable of handling this task. However, he is a future star and might also skipper India in the future. Therefore, it is necessary that he gains the right experience even if the start is turbulent.
3) Kane Williamson
Kane would actually be a safe bet for the franchise. He is back to form and is a terrific and a proven leadership candidate.
If Kane can remain injury-free, he would actually be an upgrade over Hardik as the captain. As a player, too, if Kane does well like he did a few years ago, GT will have their batting sorted in the top-order.
