3 cricketers who could be promoted in the batting order in ODI World Cup 2023

ODI World Cup 2023 is set to start soon. We could see some big surprises during the tournament. With so much data available, some teams might adopt versatile tactics during the event. In this regard, we might see some cricketers going up in the batting order. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three cricketers who could be promoted in the batting order in the ODI World Cup 2023.

1) Wanindu Hasaranga – Sri Lanka

Wanindu Hasaranga did extremely well in the Lanka Premier League 2023, both with the bat and the ball. For a while now, Hasaranga has been under-utilized with the willow. ODI WC might be the right time to make more use of his skills in this department.

Hasaranga is good against spin and has good power. If Sri Lanka does not put a lot of value on his wicket and ask him to express himself freely, Hasaranga could kill a few games in the middle overs with the bat. Hence, he could be promoted up the order.

2) Alex Carey – Australia

Alex Carey is one of the cricketers who could be promoted in the batting order in the ODI World Cup 2023. Carey is seen as a finisher but he might be tasked with a different role in ODI WC 2023.

Travis Head is likely to open and there might be a left-hander needed in the middle-order. With Stoinis and Green capable of finishing games, Carey could come in at No.5 or maybe even No.4.

3) Heinrich Klaasen – South Africa

Klaasen is arguably the best batter against spin right now. However, in his usual spot at No.5 or down, he might not get to play a lot of spin.

If David Miller can be pushed down and Rassie van der Dussen partnering him, there could be a possibility of Klaasen coming in at No.4. This would help the team greatly in the middle overs.
