3 bowling options that LSG can use in absence of Mark Wood in the final stages of IPL

Mark Wood has been absolute game-changer on his heyday for LSG

Lucknow Super Giants have performed pretty decently well as a team in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. Under his captaincy of KL Rahul, LSG are now third on the table. Mark Wood may be out of the final stages of the IPL 2023 because of the birth of his daughter

In the seven games they have played, they have won four games and lost the remaining three games so far this season. Meanwhile, their marquee paceman, Mark Wood is expected to miss the final stage of the IPL.

The England international is set to miss the last stages of the IPL this season in a bid to attend the birth of his child next month. For the record, the right-arm paceman has already missed the last two games of the IPL due to illness.

He has been sterling form with the ball in the ongoing season of the IPL where he accounted for 11 dismissals at an economy of 8.12. LSG missed the last season of IPL owing to an injury.

However, he made his LSG debut this season where he took a five-wicket haul against Delhi Capitals. Now, in this article, we will take a look at the three bowling options LSG can use in absence of Mark Wood.

1. Daniel Sams can be a menace in place of Mark Wood

Daniel Richard Sams is one of the options LSG can use in Mark Wood’s absence. Daniel Sams played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022 and was sold to LSG at IPL 2023 mini-auction for INR 75 lakh.

He has played 15 games in IPL wherein he took 14 wickets to his name. On his heyday, Daniel Sams can be an absolute game-changer.

2. Romario Shepherd can be a better option than Mark Wood given his all-round brilliance

Lucknow Super Giants snapped up the West Indies international Romario Shepherd for INR 50 lakh at the IPL 2023 mini-auction in Kochi in late December. He is one of the options LSG can use in Mark Wood’s absence. Shepherd took three wickets in four games.

Romario Shepherd can be a phenomenal striker of the ball too and is one of the best options in the side for LSG considering his decent pace.

3. Naveen ul Haq

The Lucknow-based franchise snapped up the Afghanistani paceman, Naveen ul Haq for INR 50 lakh at the IPL 2023 mini-auction in Kochi last year. The 23-year-old took one wicket in two appearances in IPL and is expected to deliver the goods if he gets more chances.

He is a youngster who can be a real challenge for the opposition considering his brutal pace that can be the best possible factor on Indian tracks.
