‘He Will Find A Place At The Top Of The Order’-Adam Gilchrist Backs The 28-Year-Old To Start Playing Consistently For Australia

In the third one-day international match, which took place in Colombo, the Australian batter, Travis Head, maintained his good form by scoring 70 runs without being dismissed. He was the best run-scorer for Australia. They had a total of 291 runs that they were unable to defend. He was the highest run-scorer for Australia.

In the second match, Head batted at number four and scored 23 runs. However, in the first match, owing to Mitchell Marsh’s comeback from injury, Head batted at number six. While opening the innings for Australia in 2022, he has been quite successful, and former ace cricketer Adam Gilchrist believes that Travis Head will continue to flourish in this capacity in the not-too-distant future.

What did Adam Gilchrist say about Travis Head?

“I believe that Travis Head will find a position at the top of the order in the longer term, down the road, most likely within the next twelve months or so. I believe that he will end up playing consistently in the one-day setting, and I believe that this will be the situation in which he will be able to contribute the most to the team. He can go off to a flying start, he can go at as good a clip as anybody, but he’s also got a game where he can lay a foundation for himself,” Gilchrist said on SEN WA Breakfast.

Notably, the batsman, who is 28 years old, was not named in the traveling squad for the Sri Lanka trip. However, he was added to the team after the first match instead of Marcus Stoinis, who was injured. In the two matches that Australia A played against Sri Lanka A, Head had a total of 149 runs, including a century while opening in the batting order. He was so dominant in the Ashes at home that he was awarded the Player of the Series trophy for being the player who scored the most runs throughout the series. At the beginning of this year, Head had a successful trip to Pakistan, during which he made a century and a fifty while opening the batting for the ODI series.
