As per reports, Rahul Dravid is not interested in extending his contract as the Head Coach of Team India. VVS Laxman is likely to take up the role from him. There are also rumours that Rahul might join an IPL team. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two IPL franchises that should target Rahul Dravid as the new Head Coach.
1) Rajasthan Royals could target Rahul Dravid as IPL Head Coach
It was at Rajasthan Royals that Rahul Dravid started his career in the backroom. Now, there are reports that RR has approached Dravid for a role, again.
Kumar Sangakkara as a Head Coach was not impressive last season. He might go back to his role as the Director of Cricket. Rahul Dravid would be suitable to come in as the new Head Coach. The philosophy of RR might have changed since the last time when Rahul was there. However, Rajasthan has the talent to win the tournament and Rahul can help the franchise accomplish it. Therefore, RR is on this list.
2) Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians is one of the franchises that should target Rahul Dravid as the new Head Coach. It was only a season ago that Mark Boucher was appointed as the new Head Coach of the team. The South African also did well, taking the team to the playoffs despite having the absence of someone like Jasprit Bumrah.
However, it needs to be noted that in terms of tactics, Mark Boucher was not able to stamp his authority. That said, dropping him after just one season would be very unfair. Hence, the franchise might continue with him for the next season, as well. Nevertheless, if someone like Rahul Dravid is available, Mumbai Indians must not waste time. He is a high-profile name and for the popularity of the franchise, Dravid would be perfect.
