2 England players who announced their retirement from International Cricket in 2022

England has always been a nation that has produced quality batters and bowlers over the decades. Several players went on to represent the Three Lions and out of which, some players belonged to other nations as well.

England cricket team have been so powerful enough in the ICC ODI World Cup 2019 and T20I World Cup 2022. The Three Lions won both marquee tournaments in a grand fashion.

England won the ODI World Cup under the captaincy of Eoin Morgan. On the other hand, they won the T20 World Cup under the tutelage of Jos Buttler. In the last calendar year, two England players retired from international cricket in 2022.

1. Tim Bresnan

Tim Bresnan played for the England cricket team in 23 Tests, 85 ODIs and 34 T20Is in his international career. The former England all-rounder called it quits from professional cricket through his Warwickshire.

As a result, he brought curtains on his cricketing career spanning over two decades. He took 72 wickets in Tests 109 wickets in One-Day Internationals and 24 wickets in Twenty20 Internationals.

On the other hand, he has smashed three fifties in the longest format of the game and a solitary fifty in One-Day Internationals.

2. Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan has been one of the integral parts of England cricket history. It was under his captaincy, England made it to the finals of the ICC ODI World Cup 2019 and defeated New Zealand based on the boundary count rule.

Morgan represented the England cricket team in 16 Tests, 248 ODIs and 115 T20Is. The southpaw who retired from international cricket in 2022 scored 700 runs in the longest format of the game including 2 centuries and 3 fifties.

On the other end of the spectrum, he has scored 7701 runs at an average of 39.3 and a strike rate of 91.2 including 14 centuries and 47 half-centuries. As far as the shortest format is concerned, he has scored 2458 runs including 14 half-centuries at a strike rate of 136.2.
