“It Seems He Is Overcooked By Playing Too Much Cricket” : Wasim Jaffer Pointed Out Real Cause Behind Kohli’s Batting Failure

The vintage Virat Kohli is probably going through the darkest patch of his cricket career at this point in time. He has scored only 236-runs with a poor average of 19.67 in the 13 encounters that he played this season. Now everyone is nut-shelling his performance of the IPL 2016 where he has smashed 973-runs in boxing with 4-tons in that solo edition. In the previous two games against SRH and CSK, he got out on a golden duck consecutively. Also, the fingers have been raised on his clueless mindset about the batting position in the line-up.  Because in the initial games he batted at the number three position which is his natural stance, but as he faced the run-drought he shifted to the opening by replacing the in-form Anuj Rawat. His bad form with the blade was also a chief rationale behind his disengagement from the captaincy of the Indian Cricket team. Kohli is looking fox at the moment, the lack of confidence is reflected in his shot-making and the patterns of dismissals. Thus, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has reckoned this real cause behind Kohli’s batting failure and suggested the best remedy to overcome it.

When asked about Virat Kohli in a talk show on News24, Jaffer said, “The way he has got out in the last couple of matches, it seems he is overcooked by playing too much cricket. The last six months have been very intense for him as he resigned from the Test and T20 captaincy and was asked to leave ODI captaincy. After going through all these things, he is playing in IPL and hasn’t been able to score much for RCB, which certainly affects one’s mindset. So, I would suggest that Kohli take a four to six weeks break after the conclusion of IPL 2022 and come back as a mentally fresh player”.

“He doesn’t have the captaincy burden so I feel whenever he will come after the break, I will be in a better mental state as he will now focus on his own performances rather than thinking about selection issues. I definitely feel he should take a break in South Africa and England series and he may come to play in the Asia Cup, whenever it takes place. The break will be handy for Kohli and will help in come up with a fresh perspective. If we can get the old Virat Kohli, it will be great for India”, he wrapped up.
