“Won’t be surprised if he actually performs this time” – Twitter reacts after CSK bought Kyle Jamieson for INR 1 crore while RCB got him for 15 crores

Chennai Super Kings have been a tad busy at the IPL 2023 mini-auction which is taking place in Kochi. The four-time IPL champions opened their account by recruiting the services of experienced Ajinkya Rahane.

CSK signed Ajinkya Rahane for his base price of INR 50 lakh and after which, they splashed the cash to sign England all-rounder Ben Stokes for a record price of INR 16.25 crore, thus becoming the most expensive player in the history of Chennai Super Kings.

After that, they went on to sign Shaik Rasheed for INR 20 lakh at the auction. For the record, Shaik Rasheed was brilliant with the bat for India in the semi-final and final of the 2022 U-19 Cricket World Cup.

CSK also recruited the services of Nishant Sindhu for INR 16 lakh at the auction. At the time of writing this article, they have only two player slots remaining and zero overseas slots.

CSK bought Kyle Jamieson for INR 1 crore

The four-time IPL champions have purchased the services of New Zealand international Kyle Jamieson for INR 1 crore at this auction and netizens felt that CSK got a better deal this time.

During the last season, Royal Challengers Bangalore purchased the same player for a whopping price tag of INR 15 crore and was also the most-talked-about player in the build-up to the IPL 2022 season.

Nevertheless, the New Zealand player failed to justify his price tag as he could score 65 runs in nine games. Apart from that, he took nine wickets to his name at an expensive economy of 9.60.

Since he under-performed in the last season, RCB decided to release him ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction and Chennai Super Kings snapped him up at the auction for a price of INR 1 crore.

The 27-year-old has played eight Twenty20 Internationals for the New Zealand national cricket team wherein he took four wickets to his name.
