‘One Should Not Assume The Worse, When Dealing With A Player Of His Calibre’-Dinesh Karthik Backs Virat Kohli To Make A Strong Comeback After His Break

WI vs IND 2022: Dinesh Karthik, the wicket-keeper for Team India, has expressed confidence that Virat Kohli would return to the sport in a more dominant form after taking a significant hiatus from it.

Despite the continual chatter from the outside, Karthik’s words are a further show of support for Kohli, who has also gotten backing from management and teammates.

The former captain of India has had a miserable tour in England, scoring a total of just 78 runs in all three forms of the game in seven innings. The awful outside edge was responsible for the bulk of Kohli’s dismissals, and the fourth or fifth stump channel was still one of the most effective ways to remove him from the game.

What did Dinesh Karthik say about Virat Kohli?

Dinesh Karthik expressed his belief at the PS Sports Excellence Arena in Jaipur that a sabbatical would be beneficial for Virat Kohli to achieve his full potential.

He said: “Over time, Virat has had an unbelievable amount of success. After the break is over, he will be able to come back feeling refreshed, and we can only hope that he will perform really well. One should never assume the worse when dealing with a player of his calibre.”

In preparation for the forthcoming trip to the West Indies, which will consist of three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals, Virat Kohli will not play in any of those matches.

Karthik, who played with the 33-year-old during the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), staged a remarkable recovery after seeming to be on the verge of elimination at one point. At the age of 37, the wicket-keeper hitter has established a claim in the Indian team based on some strong performances in domestic and franchise cricket.

WI vs IND 2022: Dinesh Karthik will be part of the T20I series against West Indies

Karthik, while acknowledging that it is tough to get into the playing XI with the amount of quality that India has, stated the following:

“It is never simple, but I have put forth a lot of effort to achieve this. In addition to this, considering the depth of our reserves right now, we can expect that competitiveness will always be a component of this. This is what makes Indian cricket so beautiful.”

After an absence of three years, the player who was born in Tamil Nadu was called back into the Indian squad after an outstanding performance in the Indian Premier League 2022 with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Up to this point, he has participated in the Twenty20 International series against South Africa, Ireland, and England. He is a candidate to be selected for the Twenty20 World Cup team.

Karthik’s next appearance on the field will be in the Twenty20 International series against the West Indies, which will begin on July 29 and consist of five matches.
