“This is embarrassing to be most polite,” Shoaib Akhtar minces no words as Pakistan suffers shocking defeat against Zimbabwe in T20 World Cup 2022

Shoaib Akhtar had predicted a few weeks back itself that Pakistan might crash out of the super 12 round of T20 World Cup

The Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is not happy at all with the way the Pakistan cricket team fared in their second match of the T20 World Cup yesterday where they lost to Zimbabwe on a bouncy Perth pitch despite going into the match as heavy favorites.

Shoaib Akhtar called the defeat “embarrassing” if he is “most polite”. Pakistan was already in a tricky situation in the T20 World Cup 2022 after losing their first game against India and now a second defeat has got them in a situation where they don’t just need to win every game from here, but they also need some other results to go the way they want.

Shoaib Akhtar is one of those ex-Pakistani cricketers who have been ringing the alarm bells about Pakistan’s team selection and the way they have been playing their T20 cricket for quite some time in one of his videos a few weeks ago, he even said that he feared Pakistan might crash out of the T20 World Cup without qualifying to the knockout round.

Prediction of Shoaib Akhtar might turn out to be true

Akhtar’s prediction might turn out to be true as Pakistan are now on the brink of elimination from the ongoing World Cup and they can’t afford one more defeat at any stage in the super 12 round of the tournament.

When Pakistan were playing a home T20I series against England, Akhtar had raised the question marks over the whole approach of Pakistan’s T20 cricket at that time itself. The veteran fast bowler had insisted that Pakistan were a tad too defensive with the bat and he had predicted that it might cost them at some stage and that’s what happened in the super 12 round of the World Cup.

Apart from Akhtar, a lot of other former Pakistani cricketers were extremely unhappy with yesterday’s result as well. The former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez tweeted that he was “speechless” about the result.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
