Watch: Trent Boult Smashes Last-ball 6 To Win Match Few Days After Being Released By MI

The premier T20 competition of New Zealand named the Super Smash T20 tournament is currently underway. Many top players of the New Zealand cricket team, including fast bowler Trent Boult, are participating in this competition. Boult is a member of the Northern Braves squad. Earlier today, there was a match between the Northern Braves and the Canterbury Kings in the Super Smash tournament.

The Northern Braves won the toss and invited the Kings to bat first in the match at the Bay Oval in New Zealand. The Kings failed to get going with the willow. Openers Ken M and Chad Bowes were out in single digits, while number four batter Leo Carter and captain Cole McConchie were also back in the hut before they could contribute much.

Number three batter Henry Nicholls scored a fine 21-ball 35 and took the score past 50. However, Ish Sodhi dismissed him before he could convert his start into a big score. Contributions from Cam Fletcher, Ham Shipley and Blake Coburn helped the Kings finish with a 107-run total on the board.

Joe Walker picked up three wickets for the Kings, while Sodhi, Trent Boult and Anurag Verma picked up two wickets each. Brett Hampton scalped a wicket as well.

Katene Clarke and Trent Boult helped the Northern Braves win the match by 1 wicket

In reply, Northern Braves opener Katene Clarke fought like a one-man warrior. He scored 32 runs off 12 deliveries, smashing one four and four sixes. His partners kept losing their wickets. The likes of Jeet Raval and Tim Seifert could not contribute much. Blake picked up two wickets for the Kings, while Matt Henry picked up one wicket while conceding only eight runs in his four-over spell.

The match went down to the last over which was bowled by Ed Nuttall. Ed had taken three wickets in the match. He had to defend six runs off the final ball with Trent Boult at the striker’s end. Boult smashed a big shot and helped his team snatch victory from the jaws of the defeat. The Braves won by one wicket and Boult sent a message to all franchises ahead of the IPL Mega Auction.
