Two bowling combinations that Australia may try for Ashes 2023

Australia's bowlers have a great chance of showing the world n Ashes 2023 why they are the best in the world

More than the batters coming to the fore, the Ashes 2022 was defined by a strong show from the Aussie bowlers who would go onto smash around the timbre way too frequently coupled with sharp nicks that would be bagged by the slip cordon or the keeper to leave England in agony. As Ashes 2023 approaches the fore, it will be interesting to see how the bowlers of the two sides line up against each other.

Both the sides have a plethora of bowling options that would be taking the yard for the hallowed rivalry, burning up the cricketing fabric for a good deal. As the batter prepare to take the bowlers head on, here are the two bowling combinations that may be tried by Australia in order to stall the Bazball display by England.

#1 Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Scott Boland, Cameron Green and Nathan Lyon

Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood obviously becomes the perfect picks to kickstart proceedings that will be the real test for the English openers who have been struggling now for an eternity.

Scott Boland may join the party late while Cameron Green would usually be the pacer who will only be brought to bowling if things get out of hand considering the fact that he is a more of a batting all-rounder and a terrific fielder. Nathan Lyon comes into the picture later in the game but then again his efficacy would be a serious question in the pace-friendly surfaces of England.

#2 Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy

The pace trio of Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood would obviously remain intact but it is the spinners who can make a difference if England tries to surprise the Australian unit with a change in approach.

If there is ample turn on offer, Nathan Lyon would be an obvious constant but the man who would be joining him is none other than the young Todd Murphy who arrived in England and left the hosts with a very sour taste in their mouth despite only being a debutant.
